Well Water Testing

Certified Water Tests

Testing kits are available from the Rusk County Health Department. Testing can be performed for both bacterial and chemical contaminants. Colilert is used to test for the presence of total coliform and E. Coli, while the Colfax Testing Laboratory processes other samplings, such as nitrate, arsenic, lead and manganese.

Water Test Fees:

  • Bacteria (coliform and E. Coli): $25
  • Nitrate: $30
  • Arsenic: $45
  • Lead: $40
  • Manganese: $20
Testing and instruction forms will be provided when you receive your sampling kit(s) from the health department. Fees are payable when the sample is dropped off. Samples can be dropped off Monday through Thursday (we do not accept samples on Fridays).
Well water testing is available on a fee-exempt basis for WIC clients.
