Village of Weyerhaeuser
Weyerhaeuser, situated beneath the sunny slopes of the Blue Hills, is a cozy little village that boast of being the “Biggest Small Town in the State”. It is located on U.S. Highway 8 and County F in Western Rusk County.
It’s the site of the annual Booster Days celebration sponsored by the Weyerhaeuser Community Club, which is held during Labor Day weekend and is like a family reunion and homecoming combined. Some of the festivities include: a parade, church dinner, barbecued chicken, concession stands, rides, outdoor street dances, and fireworks. Tournaments in baseball, volleyball and horseshoes are some of the other activities that draw people from far and near.
Weyerhaeuser is also proud of its wonderful Community Park, complete with tennis courts, ball field, and large pavilion. It is a solidly based community which supports its new school and churches making it an economical and pleasant place to live and raise families. Continuous improvements in streets and parks, and employment within commuting distance should insure a good future for those who want to live in a small, quiet, and friendly town.
