Economic Support

Rusk County is a proud member of the Northern Income Maintenance Consortium. This means all calls, questions and applications are processed through a team of income maintenance workers.  To find out if you are eligible for the following programs, please apply online, by phone: 1-888-794-5722, by mail or in person at the Rusk County Health & Human Services.

 

  • FoodShare (WI's version of the Federal program SNAP) is a program that helps eligible low-income Wisconsin residents buy the food they need for good health. Find more information about this program and other nutrition programs including Free and Reduced School Lunches, Elderly Nutrition, Commodity Supplement Food, Emergency Food Assistance and Women, Infants and Children (WIC) on the "Nutrition Programs" tab.
  • BadgerCare Plus is a program that provides health care coverage for eligible low-income Wisconsin residents.
  • Wisconsin’s Medicaid provides health care coverage for those who:
    • Are age 65 or older, blind, or disabled
    • Have family income at or below the monthly program limit
    • Are U.S. citizens or legal immigrants
  • Child Care The Wisconsin Shares child care subsidy program supports eligible families by funding a portion of the cost of child care while the parents are working or participating in an approved activity.
  • Caretaker Supplement (CTS) is a cash benefit available to parents who are eligible for Supplemental Security Income payments.  Find more information about this program on the "Other Programs" tab.
